The nozzle (10,11, Fig. 1) sprays cooling liquid for the bit 7 of a cutting head and comprises a bursting cap portion (16) (Fig. 2) connected with a housing (15). The cooling liquid normally flows centrally through a spring-biassed valve member (19) to a nozzle (17). If an excess liquid pressure is generated due to clogging of the nozzle (17), the valve opens and the sudden pressure rise within an annular chamber (25) results in bursting of the cap portion along its intended breaking areas (18) at a predetermined pressure. <IMAGE>
