Locking device for a film trap (gate) of a microfilm reader

A locking device for the film gate of a microfilm reader is described, which locks or brakes the film gates in the rest position and thus secures the film gate position, e.g. during transport of the beater, against unintentional displacement. By means of an actuator fitted on the film gate, the brake can be released in stages by the user in such a way that when the actuator is firstly partially actuated the film gate is released only for the purpose of moving in one of its directions of displacement and is released for displacement in the second direction of displacement as well only when the actuator is fully actuated.
