Protective mask, having a hood (11) which fits tightly against the face, a respiration valve (14) and expiration valve (16) which are mounted on the hood (11) and a filter (15) which is connected to the respiration valve (14). A mechanical ventilator (22) which is driven by a battery is seated in a ventilator casing (21) which is provided on the filter (15).
