The invention relates to a profiled tooth holder (10) for holding a tooth replacement (120) on a prepared dental stump (32), the tooth holder (10) having an elongate, cylindrical main part (12) with circumferential grooves for anchorage of the main part (12) in a bore (46) in the dental stump (32) prepared with cement (116). A pair of radially projecting ribs (20, 22) extends at an angle downwards on opposite sides of the main part (12) over part of the length of the main part (12). The ribs (20, 22) project in the lateral direction in order to approximate the oval shape of the canal in the dental stump (32) in which the bore (46) is formed. For this purpose, the ribs (20, 22) taper conically downwards in order to approximate the conical shape of the canal. One rib (22) is longer than the other rib (20) in order to create a guide for insertion of the ribs in the bore. The invention furthermore relates to a drilling device for profiling the canal for reception of the tooth holder (10). The drilling device has a block-shaped head piece with a projecting, centrical pin for insertion in the bore.
