Self-locking differential, particularly for motor vehicles

Since, with the present state of the art, there is as yet no self-locking differential which, when installed in the front axle of a passenger vehicle with front-wheel drive, does not impair the ease of steering, the invention proposes an embodiment which is free from all disadvantageous effects on the ease of steering. It is characterised by the combination of a nowadays customary bevel-gear differential with parts of a likewise already known lock-up device, this combination being effected by means of worms and worm wheels, thereby achieving a new and hitherto unknown mode of action.
