The invention relates to a method and a device for transferring coke, which is produced in a coking oven, to a transporting container, wherein the coke is pushed out of the coke oven chamber, inter alia via a floor which can be displaced in the direction of the chamber longitudinal axis over the transporting container, and drops into the transporting container. In order to obtain a uniform distribution of the coke in the transporting container without displacement of the latter and thus to improve the sucking-off intensity in respect of all emissions associated with the coke discharge, the floor is displaced uniformly during the pushing operation, its outermost front edge (17) moving over the loadable empty space of the transporting container (11). At the beginning, the floor preferably adopts the furthest-extended position, in which the coke is supplied to that region of the interior of the transporting container which lies furthest away from the coke oven chamber; thereafter, the floor is displaced, preferably in accordance with the subsequent quantity of coke, from the furthest-extended position with respect to the coke oven chamber up to a position in which the coke is supplied to that region of the interior of the transporting container which lies nearest to the coke oven chamber. <IMAGE>
