Attachment of a trailer coupling to a vehicle

A trailer coupling is attached to a vehicle by a flange (1a or 2a), which belongs to the coupling and is arranged either on a coupling body (1) or on a bar guide (2) which receives a drawbar (1b) connected to the coupling body (1'), bearing against the outer or the inner surface (3a or 3b) of a cross-member (3) on the vehicle side and being held on this by means of screw connections (4). In the case of arrangement of the flange (2a) on the bar guide (2), a bushing-like part (2b), adjoining the flange (2a), of the bar guide (2) can pass through a hole (3c) in the cross-member (3) or can point away from the cross-member (3). In order to form an attachment of this type such that it is particularly stable, on the other surface (3a, 3b), lying opposite the flange (1a or 2a), of the cross-member (3) there is arranged a plate (5) which cooperates with the cross-member (3) in a force-transmitting manner; this plate (5) engages positively around a pin (1c), attached to the coupling body (1), or (cf. Fig. 2) around the bushing-like part (2b) of the bar guide (2) or around the drawbar (1b) of the coupling body (1'). <IMAGE>
