The invention describes an ultrasound pulse-echo apparatus which not only uses the incoming echo pulses during the evaluation, the position of the echo pulses being investigated on the time axis, but also investigates the incoming pulses at the same time for frequency shifts, in order to detect the Doppler effect. The invention describes various circuit and method variations for the purpose of optimisation with respect to false-alarm rejection and reliability.
