In a method for operating a compression-heat pump, in which liquid refrigerant is evaporated in an evaporator (10a, 10b), the refrigerant vapour is compressed in a compressor (1) and condensed in a condenser (5) and the refrigerant condensate is returned to the evaporator, the evaporator is to be capable of being defrosted quickly and cost-effectively, without an interruption in the process of the heat pump, by a utilisation of the process heat. For this purpose, oil is separated out of the refrigerant vapour downstream of the compressor (1) in an oil separator (3) and is returned to the compressor in the closed circuit (21, 22, 7, 23, 24). Two evaporators (10a and 10b) are operated in such a way that each of the evaporators is cut into the oil circuit (21, 22, 7, 23, 24), separately from the refrigerant circuit (1 to 6, 9 to 11), when it is necessary to defrost it, and is defrosted by means of the oil, whilst the other is cut into the refrigerant circuit. <IMAGE>
