In the present circuit arrangement, a control device is provided which receives instructions for selection of text from the telephone switching system. This causes the direct actuation of the end row of a memory area or memory allocated to the text to be sent out and containing information on the different possible text lengths. This provides the control device with the start address of the relevant text memory area and it enters these in a status memory. In connection with an address counter, the reading-out of the voice data words then begins, if necessary after a lead or pause time, so that an announcement is sent out continuously.
