A fluid friction clutch has a rotatable housing (1) filled with viscous fluid and a shaft which projects into this housing. Arranged in the housing (1) are outer discs (3) provided with toothing engaging the said housing and inner discs (4), which engage between these outer discs and are rigidly mounted on the shaft (2). 0ne disc from each pair of cooperating discs (3, 4) is provided with holes (5) and the other disc with slots (7) which are open towards the disc edge (6). In order to achieve a reduction in weight and dimensions, the outer discs (3) have slots (7) which are open towards the toothed outer edge (6). <IMAGE>
