What is indicated is an apparatus for the sorting of coins of differing diameter, in which there is provided a coin-input device having a disc-shaped centrifugal plate (2), by which the coins are transferred via an outlet (30) onto an arcuate sliding track (5). The sliding track (5) has, on its outside, a concavely curved guide edge (29), along which the coins run. According to the invention, there is located between the sliding track (5) and the centrifugal plate (2) an acceleration ring (4), on which the coins thrown off by the centrifugal plate rest and are moved forwards along the sliding track (5) by the said acceleration ring (4). The sliding track (5) is angled relative to the centrifugal plate (2), so that the coins, after falling off from the centrifugal plate, slip up against the outer edge (29) of the sliding track. With an increasing transport path of the coins, the guide edge (29) shifts away from the acceleration ring (4), so that, at a specific point, the coins are no longer taken up by the guide ring (4), but fall off from this and drop into a collecting container. <IMAGE>
