A rotary switch (2) (Figure 3) is used, for example, for voltage changeover switching or as an on/off switch in the case of small electrical apparatuses, for example a razor. This rotary switch (2) has a rotating knob (5) which is inserted into a housing passage (4) in an apparatus housing (3) and has an outer grip part (6) as well as, adjacent thereto, a collar (8) with a somewhat larger external diameter. Contact springs (10) are located on the inner end of the rotating knob (5). A contact-pressure spring (9), which is in the form of a plate, is inserted between the collar (8) of the rotating knob (5) and an opposing-bearing plate (abutment plate) (7) which is provided in the housing passage. This contact-pressure spring (9) on the one hand assists the contact pressure by the prestressing of its spring and on the other hand has bead-like latching studs (18) which engage in mating recesses (19) in the attachment (8). The contact-pressure spring (9) is thus used simultaneously for assisting the contact pressure and as a latching spring for different switch positions. <IMAGE>
