Process for the production of an air filter

A process for the production of an air filter and the air filter produced thereby are described, which air filter is produced from a paper web in zigzag folds. The paper web used for producing the air filter, before the folding operation, is furnished by the novel process with at least one separation line running divergently from the side edges of the paper web, along which separation line is applied the glue for holding together the folds of the paper web. After the folding operation and glueing, the region of the folded paper web lying outside the separation line is separated off. The separation line is expediently fabricated in the manner of a perforation along which the region extending beyond the separation line can be broken off after the folding and glueing. The end edges so formed thus lie on a curved surface deviating from a plane, along which surface a seal can be foamed in situ.
