PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer having improved mechanical strength, etc., without coloring, by blending an ethylenic polymer containing a specific amount of titanium, etc., which is a catalyst residue, with a specific amount of a phenolic antioxidant, etc., and subjecting the resultant blend to melt kneading treatment at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. ethylenic polymer containing >=5ppm titanium or >=0.5ppm vanadium which is a catalyst residue, e.g. ethylene homopolymer, (crystalline) ethylene-propylene copolymer, etc., is blended with (A) 0.01-1pts.wt. polyol or partial ester thereof with a fatty acid, e.g. trimethylolethane, etc., (B) 0.01-1pts.wt. phenolic antioxidant, e.g. 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, etc., and (C) 0.001-5pts.wt. radical generating agent, e.g. 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di-(tert- butylperoxy)hexane, etc., and the resultant blend is then subjected to melt kneading treatment. |
