PURPOSE:To use a narrow band transmission line low in cost in case there is no need for urgent transmission by extending the time base of a picture signal, compressing the frequency band for transmission, restoring the original time base and frequency band in a receiver. CONSTITUTION:In a image signals V1 stored beforehand in an image signal storage 11, whose one-frame share being specified by a frame shifting signal VF supplied from a time base extension device 12 is read out, and the time base is extended by the device 12. Transmission signals transmitted through the transmission line 3 are recorded in a time base compression device in the unit of one-frame share, where their time base is compressed, and the signals are returned to the original signals. The normal reception image signals V0 thus restored are outputted to a reception image signal storage 22. The reception signal storage 22 records one-frame-share of the reception image signals V0 in accordance with recording command signals VR from the time base compression device 21. In such a way, in case there is not a need for urgency of transmission, the low-cost narrow band transmission line can be used. |
