PURPOSE:To produce a clutch facing having a high strength without peripheral chipping, by applying a thermosetting resin and friction regulating material to a glass fiber bundle, cutting the resultant fiber bundle to form cuts, winding the fiber bundle to provide a disklike body and hot-pressing the disklike body to cure the resin. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting resin, e.g. phenolic resin in the stage A, etc., in an amount of 20-30wt% based on (A) a fiber bundle and 20-45wt% frictional regulating material, e.g. cashew dust having 40-200 mesh particle size, etc., are applied to (A) the fiber bundle prepared by bundling 100-100,000, preferably 200-40,000 continuous glass filaments having 3-20mu, preferably 5-15mu thickness and (B) the glass filaments constituting the glass fiber bundle 1 are partially cut at plural parts to form cuts 2. (C) The resultant glass fiber bundle 1 is then wound by a spiral method to provide a doughnut-like disklike body. (D) The resultant disklike body is then not-pressed to cure the resin and produce the aimed clutch facing. |
