PURPOSE:To prevent recording information at the time of pause mode from being destroyed by dividing a track into an area traced by a pickup in recording/reproducing information and an area traced by the pickup at the time of pause mode. CONSTITUTION:An optical disk 1 is driven at a prescribed speed by a spindle motor 2, the pickup 3 is driven by a tracking actuator 4, a focus actuator 5 and a linear actuator 6 to recording/reproducing information on/from the disk 1. A controller 12 or 18 reads an address on which the pickup 3 is located from a reproducing signal outputted from a moduator-demodulator circuit 14 and allows the pickup to trace tracks other than the pause track at the end of final command execution at the time of start or at the time of pause mode for the write or read. Thus, the destruction of recorded information due to the radiation of light for a long period continuously at the time of phase mode is prevented in this way. |
