In order to separate heavy objects from an air current in the suction passage of a vacuum cleaner the air current is forced to change its direction, and the heavy objects are separated from the air current by inertia and collected in a recepticle (15). As shown a separator comprising spaced openings 16, 17 and laffle 19 locates upstream of dust-bag 23 in a cylinder vacuum cleaner body. In Figs 3,4 a tubular inlet is extended into the dustbag and forms a separator therein. In Figs 5, 6 a bend in the suction hose is provided with a receptacle into which solid objects enter through a slit rubber diaphragm, and a window provides a view of the receptacle interior <IMAGE> |
