PURPOSE:To perform momentary engagement and disengagement and to prevent the occurrence of a slip between a flywheel and the shaft of an engine, by a method wherein engagement and disengagement of a flywheel with and from the rotary shaft of an engine is effected through the action of a pressure contact disc by means of an actuating mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A flywheel 8 is provided with an engaging surface 10 brought into frictional engagement with the inner side surface of a friction disc 4 secured on a crank shaft 1. An annular pressure contact disc 11, positioned facing the annular outer side surface of the friction disc 4, is disposed between the outer side surface of the friction disc 4 and the flywheel 8. The pressure contact disc 11 is actuated by means of an actuating mechanism 20, the frank wheel is coupled to a crank shaft 1 by nipping the friction disc 4 between the engaging face 10 and the pressure disc, and a flywheel device is functioned so that the flywheel 8 is momentarily separated from the crank shaft 1 through disengagement from the friction disc 4. |
