PURPOSE:To detect automatically a color defect such as sticking foreign matter, a pinhole, and a coating irregularity at a high speed and with high accuracy by reading respective pieces of color information which are separated to the three primary colors by linear image sensors. CONSTITUTION:Color materials are layered on an inspection film 40 in prescribed order. Light information read through a lens 1 is to separated the three primary colors, i.e. red, green, and blue through a color separation filter 3 consisting of color separation prisms 31, 32, and 33 and those pieces of color information are read by the linear image sensors 5, 6, and 7 for red, green, and blue, so that sensor signals RS, GS, and BS are outputted. A mark detector 10 and a rotary encoder 11 are provided on the conveyance path for the inspection film 40 to generate a mark detection signal S1 and a position detection signal S2 according to the conveyance of the inspection film 40. A selector selects one of the sensor signals RS, GS, and BS based on those signals S1 and S2 and a color defect decision device processes the selected output signal to detect the color defect of the color material. |
