PURPOSE:To enable an ink adhered to the surface of nozzle holes to be removed while preventing dust or the like from adhering to the nozzle holes and preventing treated water-repellent parts near the nozzle holes from being damaged, by treating the entire peripheries of the nozzle holes with a material having a surface energy lower than that of the texture of the nozzle hole surface, leaving the nozzle hole surface texture on the outer side, and surrounding the texture with a similar material in the form of keyholes. CONSTITUTION:A head substrate is made from, for example, an ABS resin, and is provided with parts 10 treated to be water-repellent by using a fluoro polymer. The surface energy of the ABS surface is 40-50dyn/cm, while that of the water-repellent parts is 10-18dyn/cm. An ink adhered to the surface of the nozzle holes collects at an ABS surface passage part 11 due to the difference in surface energy, and accumulates in a liquid pool part 12 under gravitational forces. For example, when a mechanism for bringing a water-absorbing member into contact with only the liquid pool part is provided at a home position of a carriage of a printer, the adhered ink can be removed without damaging the water-repellent parts near the nozzle holes and without causing adhesion of dust to the nozzle holes. |
