PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head having magnetic excellent characteristics by subjecting a magnetic head consisting of an amorphous alloy to a heat treatment in a magnetic field thereby decreasing the magnetic anisotropy of the amorphous alloy in the magnetic head and controlling the direction of the magnetic anisotropy. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous alloy film 2 of Bs12KG having the composition of Co89W5Zr6 is deposited on a base plate by a high frequency bipolar sputtering method to manufacture a composite block 3 in the figure (b). The block is cut at the broken line part shown in the figure (b) to manufacture blocks 4, 4' of magnetic head core halves. The blocks are subjected to a heat treatment for 30min at 350 deg.C while 5,000Oe magnetic field is impressed in the directions inclining by angles alpha and alpha' to the direction passing the faces 5, 5' to serve as gap forming planes and faces 6, 6' to serve as tape sliding surfaces and in the directions where the alpha and alpha' are 30 deg. to orient the direction of easy magnetization of the amorphous alloy in the direction where the magnetic field is applied. The 5,000Oe magnetic field is thereafter applied in the film plane direction of the amorphous alloy used in the joined block. The block is then cut at the chain line part shown in the figure (e) to manufacture a magnetic head. |
