[Class 40 (ii).] A sound and like recording device is provided with suction means to draw off the material removed from the blank by the recording tool. The suction nozzle is fixed to the recorder casing in position to induce a stream of air across the recorder point at an angle to the path of movement of the record. As shown, a nozzle 33 is fixed to a casing 8 housing a recording tool 9 and mounted on a member 7 pivoted to a bracket 11 attached to the end 12 of the carrying arm 6. The rigid nozzle is connected by a flexible tube 17, through a connecting piece 16 supported by a bracket 13, with a flexible tube 18 leading into a chamber 24 which is connected by tube 30 with a sack 32 in a chamber 23 connected by tube 29 with a vacuum pump in a container 20. All the material removed from the blank 5 by the recording tool 9 is drawn into the container 24, where the heavier particles settle.
