The invention relates to a device for taking fresh air into a motor vehicle, which device is housed in a unit container 1. This container is bounded by a separating wall 3 of the engine compartment and by a front separating wall 4 of the passenger compartment, these walls being connected together, in the middle of the vehicle, by means of a chassis in which there is suspended, from the top, the lower part of the tank-shaped casing 11 provided with the fan 12 and bearing only by means of sealing elements 30 on the front separating wall 4 of the passenger compartment; the water separator 14, forming the constituent part which is integral with the upper casing part 13 partially surrounds, via its receiving shell 16 and the two water outlets 17 leaving the latter, a connection 15 projecting upwards and which receives the fine filter 20.
