The multi-cyclone system contains multi-cyclones (1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16) with pumps (2, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20) which form two separating stages (I, II) for separating the starting product and stages (III, IV) for treating the thickened and the clarified suspension. The multi-cyclones (1, 3, 4) of the separating stage (I, II) are connected to one another according to a pattern in which the connecting pieces (23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 31) for the clarified and the thickened suspension are not connected to one another. The connecting pieces (30, 42) for the clarified and the thickened suspension of the first multi-cyclones (7, 13) of the respective stages (III, IV) for treating the thickened and the clarified suspension are connected to an additional multi-cyclone (45) whose connecting piece (47) for the clarified suspension is connected to the first multi-cyclone (13) of the stage (IV) for treating the clarified suspension whilst the connecting piece (46) for the thickened suspension of the additional multi-cyclone (45) is connected to the first separating stage (I). The multi-cyclones (7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16) of the stages (III, IV) for treating the thickened and the clarified suspension are connected to one another according to a counterflow connection in each case with respect to the clarified and to the thickened suspension.
