An apparatus for the automatic preparation of a solution of powder and water for the pH regulation of the water in swimming pools comprises a container, a filler opening for powder, a water inlet and a take-off pipe for taking off the solution. A filter surface, which is arranged essentially vertically in the container and which separates a powder store from a solution store, extends over the maximum possible level of the solution store. A water inlet pipe and a suction pipe serving for the solution take-off open out in the vicinity of the container bottom. The water inlet pipe contains a level-controlled shut-off valve and a vessel arranged above the level of the solution store having a level-dependent device for controlling the shut-off valve.
