A flap arrangement for an aircraft mainplane consists of in each case at least one extendable high-lift flap, which is arranged on the trailing edge of the mainplane, and of at least one spoiler which is allocated to this flap. Furthermore, it has in each case one actuating device which is allocated to the high-lift flap and/or to the spoiler. The control and regulating device which is connected upstream of the actuating device for the spoiler is in this case acted on by a proximity sensor, which is arranged in the region of the gap formed by the high-lift flap and the spoiler and causes the spoiler to follow up a change in the position of the high-lift flap in such a manner that the required separation between the flap and the spoiler is maintained. <IMAGE>
