In a device for influencing the rotation speed of an internal combustion engine with a reference value sensor, with a transmission device for transmitting the reference value to an adjusting device, which swivels a throttle valve against a return force acting in the closing direction, the throttle valve being arranged in a housing bore of a throttle valve connecting stub, the swivel axis of the throttle valve is designed to deviate from the centre axis of the housing bore in order to prevent dangerous operating states of the internal combustion engine in the event of the return force becoming inoperative.
