<p>PURPOSE:To readily and economically obtain H2 useful as a clean energy, by irradiating ethanol with light in the presence of a metal compound selected from Rh, Ru, Os and Pt and acetone. CONSTITUTION:(A) Ethanol is dehydrogenated in the presence of (B) acetone in an amount corresponding to 0.5-10mol ratio of the components (A) to (B) and (C) at least one metal compound selected from Rh, Ru, Os and Pt, e.g. RhCl3.3H2O, in an amount of 1X10<-2>mmol based on the component (A) at 0-56.5 deg.C while irradiating light at <=400nm wavelength from a high-pressure mercury lamp, etc., for a suitable period to afford H2.</p> |
