In order to obtain, from printed figures, a calculated result which can be shown in a display device of a writing instrument, it is proposed that the write head (1) be equipped with a spring-loaded ball (2) or a cone (10) which rolls within the writing pen on a collector board (5) provided with mutually insulated contact areas (6, A-Q). The contact areas (6, A-Q) are electrically wired to an energy source or a microprocessor (7). The areas of the collector board (5) contacted during the writing operation emit appropriate input signals to the microprocessor (7) which, via computational modules, presents the computed result in the display device (8) after the writing of computational symbols. <IMAGE>
