PURPOSE:To obtain a clear image free from registration shift and color shift by adjusting laser emission power in an image writing section to turn on and off a laser beam based on an image signal and in a beam detecting section to generate an image writing timing signal. CONSTITUTION:Laser beam emission power of a laser oscillator monitored by a monitoring means 3 is adjusted to a previously set beam detection level by a 1st adjusting means immediately before detecting a laser beam radiated from a laser unit 41 by a beam detecting means 46a and the adjusted laser beam is detected by a beam detector 46a and then an image writing light emission level stored in a memory 2 is read out by a 2nd adjusting means to adjust the light emission power from the beam detecting level to the image writing level. Since the light emission power of the laser beam LB can be varied in accordance with the variation of electrostatic latent image potential formed on a photo-sensitive body 44 and the sending timing of an image writing timing signal can be always fixed, a clear monochromatic or multichromatic image free from resistration shift can be formed. |
