Method of fuel injection

The invention relates to a method of fuel injection in the case of overrun cut-off. Fuel is fed to the cylinders of an internal combustion engine in sequence by way of injection valves according to the load conditions. The object to be achieved is to develop the method at little cost so that unfavourable temperature conditions in the internal combustion engine in the event of overrun cut-off are prevented. To this end it is proposed that for overrun cut-off the number of cylinders to be shut off is predetermined, in particular for each two revolutions of the crankshaft. In this connection a symmetry-breaking element is preset in such a way that after a predefinable number of omitted injections there is an automatic advance to the injection valve of another cylinder.
