<p>A horizontal form-fill-seal wrapping machine has the product infeed, the bottom web crimp, and the end crimp each driven by individual squirrel cage motors, mounted behind a vertical plate which defines the backbone of the machine. The product infeed, the bottom crimp, and the end crimp, are all mounted in front of that plate.The motors are slip-controlled using a retroactive tachogenerator-function generator system to compensate for IR-losses and thus provide a flux-controlled, variable-frequency drive. This provides fast-acting control over a wide speed range.</p> |
