PURPOSE:To form a character or pattern on cloth, a fiber or a film, by providing an ink layer based on a thermal transfer dye and a heat-meltable vehicle on a support. CONSTITUTION:Ink prepared by melting and kneading a thermal transfer dye and a heat-meltable material under heating or kneading both of them in the presence of an org. solvent is applied to a support such as a polyester film or condenser paper under heating if necessary to make it possible to form a thermal transfer material but, pref., a thermal transfer material having three- layered constitution such that a heat-meltable layer based on a heat-meltable vehicle, a colorant layer containing not only a resin as a vehicle but also a sublimable dye and a heat-meltable layer are successively provided on the support such as the polyester film or condenser paper is used. |
