PURPOSE:To prevent surface roughening and surface cracking of a slab by enabling supply of molten slag to the boundary between an endless belt and a solidified layer from the rear wall of a well provided in order to accumulate the molten metal transferred on the endless belt. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal 7 cooled by a cooler 2 attached to an endless belt 1 moves toward the direction of an arrow 8b. Molten slag 12 having mold releasability and/or heat insulating property stored in the hollow part 11 provided to the rear wall 5a of a well 5 is introduced between the molten metal 7 and the belt 1. The strong adhesion between the belt 1 and a slab 8 and/or the quick cooling of the billet surface are thus averted. The surface roughening and surface cracking of the slab 8 are prevented by the above-mentioned device. |
