PURPOSE:To reduce the ratio of occurrence of knocking and heighten the torque of an engine to the maximum extent, by controlling ignition time depending on a stored spark delay quantity corresponding to the present running condition of the engine, among all stored spark delay quantities. CONSTITUTION:The spark delay quantity from MBT is repeatedly calculated, processed and stored by a learning control circuit 13 on the basis of discrimination signals from a knocking discrimination circuit 12 to control learning to generate an output voltage signal which shows a spark delay time corresponding to the spark delay quantity. An MBT representing signal from the first shaping circuit 8 and a signal from the learning control circuit 13 are applied to a conversion circuit 14 to produce an output signal for controlling ignition time to the time delayed by a period corresponding to the spark delay quantity from the MBT. The signals from the conversion circuit 14 and the first shaping circuit 8 are applied to an AND gate 16 to generate output signals to control the ignition time and the starting time of energizing of an ignition coil 4. |
