<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the capacity reduction of a heat exchanger and frosting of an outdoor heat exchanger by a method wherein heat transfer tubes and fins are coated with a low conductive or an insulating film and clogging due to adhesion of dust or oil etc. to the fins is removed by voltage applied to the fins or the tubes. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces of fins 9 and fin collars 11 are coated by electrically insulating thin film 10. This thin film covers wholly the fins 9 or tubes 8 in order to keep them in insulating condition to the open air. When a deposit such as oil, dust, or frost sticks to the surface of the fin 9 and a positive voltage is applied to the fin 9, the deposit 13 is polarized to generate a negative electrode at the surface near the fin 9. When voltage 14 is switched from positive to a negative in this condition, the inside of the fin 9 becomes a negative electrode and yet the surface electric charge on the deposit may not be reversed quickly and therefore the charge and the negative electrode of the fin 9 repulse each other and the deposit 13 is discharged and removed from the fin 9.</p> |
