The bracket has one hook (12) which is fixed or stationary, whilst the other (13) is pivotably fitted so that its lower part is movable to and from the first hook. The spare wheel (14) is pressed against the hooks by a pressure plate (16) provided with an elastic pad. When the wheel is to be fitted it is suspended initially on the first hook (14) in a vertical position. It is then pivoted to a horizontal position, and the edge of its opening (31) passes the second hook (13) which is pivoted downwards so that it can snap back under the wheel. When the wheel is thus positioned, an elbow joint (19) is activated by a manoeuvring hand grip (22), causing the pressure plate (16) with its elastic components to clamp the wheel firmly the locating surfaces (28,29) of the hooks. |
