PURPOSE:To provide a system for automatically bringing a printing head into contact with a platen, by providing an operating mechanism for operating a head-up releasing mechanism according to forward rotation of the platen, between the platen and the head-up releasing mechanism. CONSTITUTION:With a first link 37 in a head turning-up mechanism turned clockwise, a link rod 45 in a head-up releasing mechanism 44 is pressed upward. When a platen 5 is rotated forward under this condition, a kick gear 48 is rotated counterclockwise by a driving gear 49 to kick a pin 456 at the upper end of the link rod 45 by a projection 48a provided on a side face of the kick gear 48, thereby depressing the link rod 45 downward. With the link rod 45 depressed downward, the first link 37 in the head turning up mechanism is turned counterclockwise, whereby a head support part 35 is titled down, and a printing head 6 is naturally set into a head-down state. |
