PURPOSE:To uniformly fill a pipe by foaming a small amount of a composition in said pipe, by a method wherein a double tubular body consisting of a metal outer pipe and a metal inner pipe arranged coaxially is filled with a foamable phenol resin composition and said composition is foamed and cured while the tubular body is rotated or oscillated. CONSTITUTION:An exterior pipe 1 made of a metal is externally fitted to the outside of an inner pipe 2 comprising a steel pipe and one openings of both pipes are closed by a lid to fill the space between the pipes with a proper amount (e.g., a filling ratio:10%) of a foamable phenol resin and the other openings of both pipes are similarly closed by a lid. Next, both pipes are placed horizontally and rotated or shaken in a thermostatic tank to foam and cure said resin. Since foaming and curing can be performed in such a state that the foamable resin is applied and held to the inner surface of the exterior pipe, it is unnecessary to allow the material to fill 100% and a smaller amount of the material is used to make it possible to perform uniform filling. This method is suitable for manufacturing a heat insulating pipe such as steam piping. |
