The invention relates to a self-supporting basin or tub allowing the storage of water or other liquids for the most diverse of uses: recreational pool or storage of water and liquids. It is formed from a tube 1 made of flexible high-strength rubber or any other material having the same technical characteristics, preformed and of variable size and volume, and inflatable by means of an inflation valve 2, integral at its bottom with a membrane 3 made of flexible high-strength rubber or any other material having the same technical characteristics, preformed and of variable size and volume and provided with an emptying valve 4 at its bottom. The assembly shapes itself and rises during the filling of the membrane 3 with water or other liquid until it reaches a size and volume which are variable depending on the quantity of liquid contained, and holds itself in this high position solely by the thrust of the liquid held by the membrane 3 on the bottom of the tube 1, the latter being inflated to its optimum volume. <IMAGE>
