The invention relates to a running carriage intended for amphibious all-terrain vehicles which are mainly intended to move over difficult terrain which is not accessible to conventional vehicles moving with the aid of: wheels; tracks; air-cushion devices. The present invention, according to an essential characteristic, consists of a half-wheel R extending over a sector lying between 180 DEG and 200 DEG . These half-wheels R are mounted in pairs by axles E, with the particular feature of being locked at 180 DEG with respect to each other. In order to form a running carriage of at least four axles I, II, III, IV with alternate axles E with the half-wheels R offset by 180 DEG with respect to each other which makes it possible to have a running carriage with perfect running evenness over flat ground and particularly able to negotiate all the obstacles encountered on poor ground. In the nautical configuration, one of the half-wheels R of each axle E is pivoted through 180 DEG in order thus to reduce the resistance to forward travel during movement at high speed. A steering device is provided allowing turns and lateral displacements by virtue of a hydraulic reverser system. Nautical propulsion may take place equally well either by rotating the wheels, or with the aid of a screw propeller. <IMAGE>
