PURPOSE:To increase the number of registered characters to a large extent with good working efficiency, by connecting a memory cartridge to a printer main body through a connector and making it possible to select the memory cartridge by a switch. CONSTITUTION:When a RAM cartridge having a reading/writing memory mounted therein at any time is connected to a printer main body, information is sent to a printing control circuit 1 by a connection judge circuit 2 and the RAM cartridge 4 is selected by an RAM cartridge selection switch 3. When the cartridge 4 is not connected, usual processing is performed and, when connected, a receiving buffer expanding mode or a character register mode is judged to perform respective processings. Since more data can be received from a host computer by this constitution, the host computer can advance to the next processing immediately and, therefore, working efficiency becomes well and the number of registrable characters are increased to a large extent and the working efficiency on a user side is also enhanced. |
