PURPOSE:To apply impact force at a short repeating cycle with high energy conversion efficiency, by mounting a transmission mechanism for amplifying and transmitting the dimensional strain of a piezoelectric element responding to a drive signal and a driving pin responding to the dimensional strain to impart impact force to an ink ball. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric element 22 responds to a drive signal of printing timing to generate elongation dimensional strain in the direction of an arrow E and transmits said strain to levers 23, 24 connected to the other end of said element 22 through hinges. Since the levers 23, 24 are respectively connected to a base 21 through the hinges, displacement is generated at the leading end parts of said levers in the directions of arrows F, G and transmitted to a lever 25 through the respective hinges to generate displacement in the driving pin 20 mounted to the lever 25 in the direction shown by an arrow B. As a result, the driving pin 20 imparts impact force toward the ink ball 1 supplied into a nozzle 3 being a jet pipe as shown by an arrow A. Since a drive source is the piezoelectric element 22, driving can be performed at a short repeating cycle and, further, since electrostriction vertical effect is utilized, impact force can be applied with high energy conversion efficiency. |
