PURPOSE:To avoid the effect of disturbance such as vibrarion, cutting oil, chips, etc. by forming the captioned device with a device for detecting that a rotary device formed with a rotary body and a swinging rod carried out a rotation at a defined angle, and a device for carrying out an output based on the detected result. CONSTITUTION:The angle of rotation at which a swinging rod 13 is brought into contact with a normal tool 50 is measured and, after making adjustment so that the rod 13 is rotated about 10 deg. beyond the normal angle, a prescribed machining is carried nt. When the tool 50 is returned to the zero (0) point after machining a workpiece 40, a rotasy device 10 is operated to rotate the swinging rod 13. In this case, when the tool 50 is not broken, the swinging rod 13 is brought into contact with the tool 50, whereas, if the tool 50 is broken, the swinging rod 13 is not brought into contact with the tool 50, and this is detected by a detecting device, stopping a machine tool while reversing the rotary device 10 to return the swinging rod 13. By this method, an erroneous measurement due to disturbance can be prevented, enabling a stable detection. |
