For the purpose of reducing the noise level in the interior of a motor vehicle, the excitation of vibrations of the front region of the floor panel (8) is reduced by selective gaps (17) between front longitudinal members (1, 2), on the one hand, and the floor panel (8), on the other hand, and by supporting the longitudinal members (1, 2) via crossmembers (3) only in an approximately central region of the sills (4, 5). In contrast, the excitation of vibrations of the rear region of the floor panel is increased so that in the head region of the vehicle occupants there are portions of air vibrations which are suitable in terms of amplitude and phase for extinction by interference (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
