Gas bubble bricks for metallurgical vessels consist of a shaped refractory brick (4), of a sheet-metal cladding, which partially surrounds the shaped brick and is formed by a case (6) surrounding the lateral outer face of the shaped brick and drawn from a round sheet-metal blank and also by a sheet-metal cover (7) welded to said case and covering over the underside of the shaped brick, and of a gas supply pipe (8). Such a gas bubble brick is to be able to be lifted without problems, together with the perforated brick (2) optionally surrounding it, with the aid of a hoist, in order to facilitate mounting. For this purpose, the conical sheet-metal case (6) surrounding the shaped brick (4) is extended beyond the gas outlet cross-section of the shaped brick (4), the undeformed base of the round sheet-metal blank at least partially remaining on the sheet-metal case (6). A carrying strap (13) is constructed on the undeformed base. The carrying or transporting strap (13) can be welded to the base. <IMAGE>
