A plurality of containers each containing plutonium sample solution are conveyed by a conveyer device one by one to a first stop position, where nitric acid, silver peroxide powder and sulfamic acid are added in the container by a first valence control device and a powder addition device to adjust the valence to Pu(VI). The container is further conveyed to a second stop position, where sulfuric acid and iron (II) solution are added in the container by a second valence control device to adjust the valence to Pu (IV). The container is further conveyed to a second stop position, where sulfuric acid and iron (II) solution are added in the container by a second valence control device to adjust the valence to Pu (IV) and thereafter potentiometric titration with potassium dichromate standard solution is conducted by a titration device. A nozzle and electrode used in the titration are then washed by a washing device. All of these devices are disposed inside a globe box and are connected to a buret device for each reagent and a potentiometer disposed outside the globe box. Analysis of measurements and the operation of these devices are controlled by a controller disposed outside the globe box in synchronism with the intermittent transfer of the container. <IMAGE>
