In the beverage container (10), an airtight termination of the beverage contained in it is achieved, until it has been emptied completely, by a covering wall (18) which rests directly on the beverage and can slide with an edge seal (22) in a sealing manner along the inside (23) of the container. An opening in the covering wall (18) is provided with a valve (19) which allows venting of the interior and results in a tight closure. <IMAGE>
